Privacy Policy

1 The short version
Toolmatic does not collect, store, sell, share, or in any way harvest personal data about you. We collect only anonymous usage statistics, for example how many Macs launched the app, how many stayed active for an hour of use, how many ran a tool such as AI Mastering, or how many saw the paywall, tied to a random hashed install identifier and a rough country-level estimate derived from your connection, neither of which can identify you or reveal your exact location, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings under General. We never collect file names or file contents, and nothing you create is ever used to train AI models. We do not use advertising identifiers. We do not ship with third-party SDKs that phone home. Your files stay on your Mac. If you ever have a question about what this means in practice, write to [email protected] and we will answer plainly.
2 Scope of this policy
This policy describes the privacy practices of Toolmatic, a native macOS utility application distributed through the Mac App Store, and of this website at toolmatic.app. It applies whether you use the free tier, the auto-renewing Toolmatic Pro subscription, the one-time Lifetime unlock in-app purchase, or the Toolmatic Max and Max Lite tiers, whether subscribed monthly or unlocked with a one-time purchase.
3 Information we do not collect
For clarity, here is a non-exhaustive list of categories of information Toolmatic does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or mailing addresses
- Apple ID, iCloud identifiers, or any unique device identifier
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or tracking identifiers of any kind
- IP addresses in stored form, or precise, street-level location
- Usage data tied to your identity, click-by-click behavioral profiles, or browsing history
- The contents, filenames, or metadata of files you process
- URLs you download from with the built-in downloader
- Device model, hardware specifications, or serial numbers
- Contacts, calendars, photos, or microphone or camera data
Because we do not collect it, we cannot lose it, be compelled to produce it, or be tempted to monetize it later. This is our core privacy commitment and we do not intend to change it.
4 Usage statistics, what we track and why
The app can send a small set of anonymous usage signals to our own server. Each one is a simple count, and this is the complete list, along with why we look at it:
- App launches, so we know roughly how many Macs actually use Toolmatic
- An hourly activity heartbeat while the app is in use, so we can tell a quick try from a real working session
- Tool runs and whether each finished, failed, or was cancelled, so we know which tools earn their place and which need fixing
- Paywall views and dismissals, so we can tell whether the upgrade screen is helpful or in the way
The only things attached to these signals are a random hashed install identifier, the app version, your macOS version, and a rough country-level estimate derived from your connection. The identifier is random, it is not your Apple ID, not a device serial, and not derived from anything about you, so none of this can be tied to your identity or reveal your exact location.
These statistics are never sold, never shared with third parties, never used for advertising, and never used to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. The same is true of your files and everything you create with the app.
Usage statistics are on by default, and you can turn them off anytime in Settings under General. Turning them off also discards anything queued and rotates the identifier, so past and future signals can never be connected.
5 Your files
Every tool in Toolmatic runs entirely on your Mac. Video conversions, audio processing, image resizing, PDF merging, compression, watermarking, metadata editing, format conversion, all of it happens on your machine. No file, frame, sample, or page is uploaded to any server operated by us or by a third party. The only exception is the built-in downloader, which by its nature connects to the URL you paste into it; that request goes directly from your Mac to the host you chose, and nothing about it is logged or relayed by us.
6 Purchases and subscriptions
Toolmatic Pro is a $4.99-per-month auto-renewing subscription and Lifetime unlock is a $29.99 one-time in-app purchase. Both are processed entirely by Apple through the Mac App Store under your Apple ID. Apple handles billing, receipts, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and family sharing. We never see your credit card, your full Apple ID, or your billing address. We receive an anonymous, App-Store-signed receipt that tells the app whether a given install is entitled to paid features; the receipt is validated on-device and is not transmitted to us. Apple's own privacy policy governs the data they collect to process your purchase and is available at apple.com/legal/privacy.
7 Support correspondence
If you email us at [email protected], we receive your message, your email address, and anything you choose to include in the body. We use this solely to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list, do not share your message with third parties, and delete support threads on a rolling basis once the issue is resolved and a reasonable reference window has passed. Your email address is not used for marketing.
8 System permissions and logs
Toolmatic requests only the macOS permissions it strictly needs to function, and only when you invoke a feature that requires them, for example, access to a folder you explicitly open, or the ability to write to a destination you choose. macOS may record diagnostic logs on your device when an application crashes; if you opt in to share these with Apple, they are governed by Apple's diagnostic data policy and are not shared with us unless you choose to attach a log to a support email. We operate a self-hosted, anonymous usage-statistics service, described under Third parties below and toggled in Settings under General; we do not operate a crash-reporting service of our own.
9 Third parties
We do not embed third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, attribution SDKs, or social tracking pixels in the app. The app can share anonymous usage statistics, like how many Macs launched the app, how many stayed active for an hour of use, how many ran a tool such as AI Mastering, or how many saw the paywall, but those counts go only to our own server, never to a third party, and never include your name, your files, or their contents. A random hashed install identifier and a rough country-level estimate derived from your connection are the only things attached, neither of which can identify you or reveal your exact location, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings under General. This website does not use cookies beyond those strictly necessary to remember your chosen appearance (light or dark). It does not embed third-party fonts loaded from a remote host, third-party analytics, or third-party social widgets.
10 Children
Toolmatic is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under thirteen. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have inadvertently received information about a child, write to us and we will confirm that no such information exists on our side.
11 Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the United Kingdom's Data Protection Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and similar regimes, to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data about you. Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to produce or delete. If that surprises you or you believe otherwise, please contact us and we will investigate promptly.
12 Changes to this policy
If we ever materially change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where practical, highlight what changed. If a change ever expands the categories of data we collect, we will say so plainly in the app before the change takes effect.
